The highlight of any showing rider’s year is to have qualified at the various shows around the country, to compete at the prestigious Horse of the Year.
2010 will be no exception, with new classes and some changes to existing events. Judges will travel from South Africa, Australia and New Zealand to put the best horses and ponies in New Zealand through their paces, awarding prizes to the most outstanding animals on show.
Starting on the Tuesday with the Working hunter classes where the horses and ponies jump hunter type jumps judged on style and control. Always promises to be an entertaining event. Also our Leading Rein and First Ridden children present their beautiful little ponies for the judges to place accordingly.
The New Zealand Bred Pony classes, sponsored by the Pony Breeders Society of New Zealand have a whole new concept on their classes on the Wednesday which will prove to be very interesting.
Thursday hosts the ever prestigious Gee Wizz Memorial Equestrian Turnout class and Friday boasts a brand new class the “Wonder” Memorial Junior Equestrian Turnout event run for riders 16 years & under.
Throughout the show there will be Rising Star classes for the up and coming horses and ponies of tomorrow, Rider classes, Saddle Hunters, Hacks, Ponies, In Hand Show Horses, to name but a few. All in all an action packed six days.
