Hopes are high the 2015 Farmlands Horse of the Year Taste of the Bay Night Market will be even more successful than on début . . . and that’s saying something.
Hundreds enjoyed the best of the bay at the inaugural night market in 2014. Organisers Gaylene and Graeme Wright – owners of Kiwiberri Frozen Yoghurt – are working closely with 2014 organiser Susan McDade, the Hastings CityBusinessAssociationmanager, to ensure no stone is left unturned.
“It was just fantastic last year,” said Gaylene Wright. “Susan and her team did a great job last year.”
So impressed were she and her husband that they mentioned to HOY operations manager Andrew Hansen that they would be happy to help if need be in the future.
And here they are now, putting together the 2015 gathering.
A lot of the same stallholders from last year will be back, covering food, produce and craft.
“The market brings the bay to those who are here for the show and really gives them great things to eat or take back to their trucks and prepare.”
Feedback on the 2014 event was hugely positive, and organisers have taken constructive suggestions on board to improve on it for this year.
“We’re not trying to reinvent this wonderful event, just continue it so that people know there will always be a fab night at HOY on the Wednesday!”
Gaylene Wright is expecting up to 50 stallholders at the Wednesday (March 18) evening market, which kicks off at 6pm and will run through to 9pm, and is being held in the Land Rover Premier Arena. There will also be plenty of entertainment.
Entry is free for the general public from 6pm.
