Show Hunter Heads to HOY on a High

There’s a buzz in the air around those organising the show hunter section at HOY.
The new handy hunter classes have proved a huge hit with excellent entry numbers. Section convenor Sandy Richmond says it seems the time was right to introduce something different and fun to the show.
But behind the fun is plenty of serious competition. Show hunter series all finish at HOY and leaderboards going into the show are extremely tight.
“We’ve had a real lift in our series’ classes in the latter part of the season due to the rule change at conference which allows riders to keep on accumulating (series) points throughout the season with the best 10 rounds tallied before HOY,” says Richmond.
The series’ finals at HOY are deemed a bonus round, with a bonus point on offer, and Richmond says that could make the world of difference to some.
Show hunter has American course builder Michael Puffer and judge Dale Pederson at the show, and that too has created plenty of interest.
“People are pleased to see we are bringing new people to the show, a new set of eyes over our riders, and different course building ideas.”
