Changes to the Dressage Programme 2008

Due to very large entries the OC have had to move some classes scheduled to be held in the oval.

Class 210 Level 2 Musical Freestyle moves to the Polo grounds on Wednesday afternoon.

Class 223 Level 3 Musical Freestyle moves from Thursday to Wednesday afternoon in the oval.

Class 230 Level 4 4.6 moves to the Polo grounds on Friday morning.

Class 237 Level 3 Pony Musical Freestyle moves to the Polo grounds & from Saturday to Friday midday

The 2008 Horse of the Year Show is the final qualifier for the North Island ZILCO Leaderboard. All musical Freestyles (except pony) are ZILCO Leaderboard qualifiers and are allocated double points.

CONDITIONS FOR HOY DRESSAGE 2008


Classes will be run on the Polo Grounds and in the Oval.
ALL CLASSES WILL BE RUN UNDER SPECIAL CONDITIONS.
Classes 233, 236, 238 & 240 will be run under FEI rules.
The draft FEI schedule will be available from Dressage NZ on December 20th 2007.


RIDERS PLEASE NOTE

There are numerous changes to the programme, rules and conditions.
Please make sure you have read and understood these before placing your entries.
Incorrect Entries will be returned.

ENTRIES
1. Entries close and must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. 1st February, 2008.
Please make cheques payable to The Horse of the Year and send a SAE (size DLE) for your draw.
Incorrect or incomplete entries or fees will not be accepted and will be returned.

All dressage entries must be on a separate ESNZ entry form from other disciplines and sent to:

2. Dressage competitors riders MUST complete and include with their Kelt Capital Horse of the Year form, a separate dressage entry form which is available on the web site www.hoy.co.nz or by sending a SAE to Chris Paston P. O. Box No. 93, Bay View, Hawke's Bay.

3. All rider membership must be current up to and including 9 March 2008. All horse and pony registration stickers submitted with entries must be current up to and including to March 9th 2008. ESNZ rules apply.

4. All Level 1 (Title and Non Title) and Level 2 (Non Title) classes will be restricted to a maximum of 40 starting horses. The OC reserves the right to accept in order of receipt with additional entries deferred to a wait list.

5. No late entries will be taken at the show.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
7 Qualification period for all Level 1, pony and non title classes is from January 1st 2007 until closing date of entries. (5pm 1stFeb) Qualification period for HOY Title classes is from October 6th 2007 until closing date of entries (except Taupo, Waitemata and Wairarapa late entry qualifications.)

8 All HOY Title classes - Level 1, horses must have gained 63% or more in an ESNZ test that counted for grading points. Level 1 Horses that have qualified in a Zilco Level 2 Musical Freestyle Qualifier may enter either the HOY Level 1 Horse Title OR the HOY Level 2 Title. Level 2, 63% In a Zilco Musical Qualifier. Level 3 and Level 4 - 60%, in a Zilco Musical Qualifier. Level 5 and 6/7 - 57%, in a Zilco Musical Qualifier. No prior qualification is required for Grand Prix horses.
Classes 233 & 238 (Young Rider) do not require prior qualification.


9. Horses that qualify at Taupo (Feb 10th ) Waitemata (Feb 16th / 17th ), or Wairarapa (Feb 23rd / 24th ) may submit a late entry. Entries will only be accepted if riders have advised the Convenor of their intention to qualify at any of these events. Confirmation of qualification must be by phone or email within 1 day of qualifying, then posted entries must be received within three days of qualification. Details of riders who qualify at Wairarapa may not be included in the programme.

10. Qualification for Non Title Classes. Level 1 / Level 2 Horses 63%, Level 3 / Level 4 60%, Level 5 and Level 6/7 - 57% or more in any ESNZ graded test. Class 231 does not need prior qualification. Horses are restricted to one level and must have qualified in that level. Any qualified horse as in this para 11 may be entered in a non-title class scheduled for the polo grounds but not in non-title classes scheduled for the main oval.

PONY QUALIFICATION, PONY RIDER ELIGIBILITY & TITLE CLASSIFICATION
11. ALL PONIES ARE RESTRICTED TO ONE LEVEL
The Dressage Pony of the Year Title is run under Dressage NZ Article 465 Special Conditions.
All ponies entered in Level 3 compete on equal terms.. The Dressage Pony of the Year Title will be open to ponies that have gained 60% or more in a Level 3 or above graded competition SINCE 1 January 2007. The title will be decided on the accumulated result of both the POY title class & the Pony Open Level 3 Musical freestyle. Riders must enter both classes.
Class 237 will take place late Saturday p.m.

12. All Ponies entering Level 1 or Level 2 pony classes must have gained 60% or more in a graded ESNZ competition, since 1 January 2007 at the level they are entering .

13. Ponies with riders under 16 years of age may only enter classes restricted to ponies.
(REFER TO AGE RULE BELOW)

14. Pony riders are eligible until the end of the calendar they reach the age of 16. Except those riders turning 16 on or after the 1st of January 2008 will be remain eligible to compete, Rule (463.3).


ELIGIBILITY

15. All HOY Titles must be ridden at the highest grade the horse has qualified in a ZILCO Musical Freestyle Qualifier. Combinations may only compete for one level HOY Title.

16. Qualified horses need not be ridden by the same rider who qualified the horse but must be ridden by the same rider in both HOY Title classes & warm up classes. (Dressage Rule 474 Para 3).

17. Horses must be entered in both HOY title classes at the level contested. Warm up classes must be the same level as the Title classes entered and combinations must ALSO ENTER BOTH TITLE CLASSES to be eligible to compete in the warm-up class. It is not compulsory to enter the warm up class
Exceptions:
a) Level 5 Horses entered in CDIY classes may enter Class 209 as a warm up without entering title classes
b) Level 6/7 Horses entered in CDIY classes may enter Class 221 as a warm up without entering title classes
c) See Condition 11.

18. Adults may ride ponies in horse classes, but not in classes restricted to ponies and pony riders. Eligibility criteria at each level for title & non -title classes as for horses.

HOY TITLES CLASSIFICATION
19. The HOY Level 1 Horse Title (Classes 208 & 218) will be decided on the accumulated results of these two classes and riders must enter both classes.

20. HOY Titles will be decided on the accumulated result of both the HOY Title class and the Musical Freestyle at the same level. The Freestyle test will be allocated x 1.5 points. Horse/Rider combination must be the same for both tests.

PRIZE GIVIINGS
21. ALL PLACEGETTERS in HOY Title classes MUST attend their relevant prize giving and must be correctly attired. Non- attendance will result in prize money being withheld. Times for prize giving's will be announced daily and printed on the notice board. It is the competitor's responsibility to check if they have been placed in a class. Prize giving's for NON Title classes must also be attended and correctly attired, These will take place when and where announced.


GENERAL RULES & EVENT CONDITIONS
22. PROHIBITED SCHOOLING - Please refer to Rule 474 para. 1 ILLEGAL GEAR - Please refer to Rule 474 para. 1-11

23. These rules will be strictly enforced at all times.

24. Whips may be carried in all tests except in the FEI tests.

25. Tests may not be commanded in any Title class.

26. All tests will be ridden in a 60 X 20M ARENA.

27. All horses and ponies must wear ID numbers whether competing or exercising.


28. Allocated draw times must be adhered to at all times unless the OC decides otherwise.

29. Riders MUST check scoreboards daily for updated class draws.

30. The HOY Dressage Committee reserves the right to amend, move or cancel any class or ALTER prize money.

31. All competitors and persons responsible must ensure they read the GENERAL conditions of the show.
