These classes are to recognised the New Zealand breeding Industry as a very important component of the whole Equestrian Package

This section of the HOY show is a showcase of all New Zealand Bred Performance Horses.

A show case of the very best PURPOSE BRED horses NZ has to offer, and with an ever increasing international audience a prestigious marketing arena

Open to ALL BREEDS of horses registered, age and breed branded or DNA typed with a recognised breed society and/or registered with the NZ Equestrian Federation. Horses are judged according to the one with the best potential as a performance horse i.e. built for the job of Dressage/riding or Jumping whether it be in competition or breeding. To be judged by two international judges on conformation and movement. The Young Sporthorse section is open to 2 and 3 year olds and the Adult section is for horses 4 years and over.
